Adventures in Pinteresting

So, I have this amazingly yummy looking gluten free chocolate fudge bite recipe I have been wanting to try. I even went and bought a bunch of dates (not the cheapest ingredient) to do it! So today was the day!! I followed the recipe (found here from this awesome blog, Running With Spoons). Let's say today I learned a very valuable lesson. When using dates, make sure they are the ones that have already been pitted. Who knew dates have pits?! Well, I didn't. And I found out the hard and messy and destructive way that they do.




The pits broke through the side of my ninja blender and the mixture found its way all over the counter and floor...












The pits, while they look like nuts, are not edible... Believe me, I tried. They are hard little jerks just waiting for the inexperienced date user to blend or bite into...










I will be trying this again, because what I was able to salvage was very yummy. As for this batch, I will just chew very slowly so that I don't chip a tooth on the super hard pits that are semi-chopped up in this mix.
